Signal Lost - 7. The Series

1

This book is the first of a series, but it will not be 'The Further Adventures of Dav and Fia'. Each book in the series will be standalone in a shared setting, with new characters and a new situation, sort of like Cherryh's Union/Alliance/Compact Space books. Is this a more interesting way of framing a series? What are the benefits and drawbacks of this approach in your opinion?

I think further adventures of... would be a poor choice with not a lot of good opportunities. The shared setting idea is much more appealing to me

I think there's enough in the setting for a talented author to write some compelling stories. It's a shame that Sullivan isn't that author, at least for me.

The setting could also be a decent background for RPGs, but that's another question.
